“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”
Sometimes when we think of the word “commandment,” we think of it in a negative way. We think of it as something bad or difficult, or the taking away of something. But the scripture says that God’s commandments are not hard. There are more of God’s commandments that tell us what to do, rather than what not to do. God gives us these commandments for our own good. Some of God’s commandments are relative to all of us, but some of God’s commandments are given to us individually. An example of this might be our individual callings. We can only fulfill these callings if we let Christ live through us.
Sometimes we get scared of what God is calling us to do. We battle in our minds what God’s plans are for us, when we can’t begin to comprehend the greatness of His thoughts. We need to get out of our comfort zone. Sometimes our “helping God” messes up the situation. We need to trust God in every situation. God respects our efforts more than our results.
God’s commandments are not grievous. They will help you. His commandments are not to make Him "more God," but to allow us to be a part of who God is--God wants a relationship with us.
The way to be an overcomer is to believe Jesus is the Son of God. We have to put our faith in Him. Sometimes it is easy to believe in God for our salvation, but we have trouble letting God be our leader, our Shepard, in all areas of our lives. If we want to be overcomers, we need to put our faith in our Shepard.
Do you believe in the Perfect Love of Christ in every area of your life? Don't live your life looking for the [way] out--be all in. Jesus is the victory that overcomes the world.
